We seek a person with EXTENSIVE hands-on patient-care experience to care for active, adult female Quadriplegic - Total Physical Care + Assistance with activities of daily life.
*New York State Medicaid requires that applicant be a U.S. CITIZEN, OR HAVE A GREEN CARD OR WORK VISA.
This position is with an active, alert woman, paralyzed from the neck down. She is a "NIGHT OWL" who stays up LATE, so anyone taking care of her needs to be comfortable & content with late hours.
Currently, we are looking for persons who can cover:
1} 2-3 NIGHTS PER WEEK . . . every FRIDAY and SATURDAY night,{8PM-8AM}
2) SUNDAY DAY SHIFT {8AM-8PM}
and POSSIBLY also SUNDAY OR THURSDAY night shift {8pm-8am}.
If you can also fill-in or trade a shift occasionally, that would be a +plus+. FLEXIBILITY is always appreciated. We will hire as many qualified people as necessary to cover our open shifts.
Both DAY and NIGHT SHIFTS ARE 12 HOURS - 8-8. We train people for the skills & care routines used on both day & night shifts. Initially, training sessions are done during the day, so an applicant needs to be available during those hours. More shifts may open in the future.
MEDICAID salary + benefits; WORK VISA/CITIZEN REQUIRED.; Weekends: $128 per shift ; Mon.-Fri.: $115.20 per shift. We do not determine Medicaid salary.
Experience with skills used in Physical Rehabilitation is valuable, such as:
passive Range-of-Motion exercises, positioning & turning in bed, transfer with Hoyer lift and use of an electric wheelchair, bathing, teeth-brushing, dressing, foley cath care, changing drainage bags, bowel program, suctioning & trach care, chest PT, use of respirator, dispensing meds, etc.,
Your clinical skills are very important to us, although there is more to this job than medical skills alone. This is not just a job. This is a one-to-one situation. Together, you have a close, personal working association. Any person taking this position needs to realize that besides being responsible for total physical care, you are there to help this person accomplish her goals for everyday life.
