When you call or email to inquire, I will request you fill out a brief pre-lesson questionnaire (simple email). This will allow me to develop a personalized approach in advance, tailoring the lesson to YOUR interests.
Pick a song. . .any song - we'll break it down, note for note -- at YOUR speed. We will explore multiple ways of playing the same song to find the perfect mix of comfort, challenge and appropriateness for YOUR ability. This will be instrumental in discovering and fine tuning your individual style as your skill progresses.
In addition to the basics (chords, scales and theory), each week, you will pick one song to explore, and based on that choice, I will prepare exercises to develop the necessary techniques used in that song AND a Notable Riff! -- A classic riff, rhythm or melody that every aspiring guitarist should know.
I can provide a quality acoustic guitar for your first lesson (if necessary), but will insist you get your own moving forward. The search for the right gear can be overwhelming. I will be your equipment consultant, helping you to make the right purchases based on your style, budget and level of interest.
I will travel to homes in: New York City, Westchester County and the Bronx. Brooklyn/Queens/Dutchess and Putnam considered case by case.
