Job Description
The Product Marketing Manager is responsible for the marketing of products and services to specific industry verticals/target markets and ensuring that the products/solutions are positioned to sell based on the needs of the market. The position requires the creation of go-to-market strategies and content for these solutions in collaboration with product management, business development, PR, Training and other internal marketing channels. The product marketing manager will focus on implementing the marketing strategies that deliver value to customers and profitable growth for the company.
Job Specific Responsibilities
• Assist in defining and implementing the product marketing strategies and integrated marketing plans for company products and solutions including asset development and budget management across multiple product teams
• Duties include competitive research, market assessments, creation of compelling product/solution messaging, positioning and value propositions for new products
• Other duties include development for new product introductions, development of advertising plans and execution, sales assets, web content, and demand generation activities that are in alignment with overall corporate brand/positioning.
• Manage new product launch plans and strategic initiatives that involve cross-functional team participation and collaboration with internal teams such as product management, sales/company channels, business development, training and other internal marketing teams throughout the duration and execution of all marketing initiatives
• Implement ROI standards and success measurement tools and effectively communicate results to internal stakeholders and business partners. Conduct post-launch read-out to stakeholders and executive teams as required.
• Manage a complex, large project or multiple small complex projects or coordinate activities of a larger project team.
• Monitor, evaluate and document the progress of each project and provide the right level of communication/reporting both to management and as cross-functional updates.
• Understand revenue, market share growth and gross margin profitability for each product line and develop marketing plans accordingly
• Manage and direct overall relationship of third-party vendors such as creative agencies, print/fulfillment companies, trade show vendors, contractors, copywriters, video/production companies to ensure quality and consistency for all marketing initiatives that require external support.
Establish relationship and collaborate with external marketers from partner organizations when developing joint marketing strategy/plans and coordination of initiatives.
Candidate Requirements
• 5 to 7+ years experience in marketing, communications and/or product management in a business-to-business environment
• Experience in the technology and/or banking/financial or software industry preferred
• Strong verbal, written & presentation communication skills, with ability to translate technical product information into external, benefits-focused material
• Resourceful, roll up the sleeves attitude. The successful candidate must have the initiative to resolve problems and seek answers independently and will enthusiastically persist until goals are achieved.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple, parallel projects to deadline in a cross-functional team environment under tight timeframes
• Proven ability to lead the Product Marketing process from concept through launch including creation and execution of marketing plans
• Demonstrated ability to learn and master product functionality and communicate the essential business value to sales and channels.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to establish business and financial justifications for product marketing initiatives
• Over 5 years experience with vendor selection/management; writing copy; creative creation; production and fulfillment
• Strong knowledge of the creative agency environment, advertising/media buying process, marketing terminology, printing specifications, pre-press familiarity, mail house processes and postal regulations
• Bachelors degree required, emphasis on marketing preferred, MBA preferred
• Strong skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint)
• Minimal travel required
